I am a freelance science communicator, creator, speaker and writer. I make knowledge accessible to a wide audience. I use playful, appealing formats for this. The aim is to make people think and get them actively engaged with a topic. See my portfolio (in Dutch) to get an idea of how I do this.

What can I do for you?

  • Concept development
For an event, presentation, exhibition, book – any form that helps you reach your audience.
  • Interaction with the audience
Moderating a conversation, demonstration, experiment, activity – I ensure that the audience gets involved and will actively look for answers.
  • Workshops
About storytelling, playful and effective forms of science communication and the fascinating psychological principles that make our lives so fascinating and sometimes so irrational.

I am very curious, always have questions, love to experiment and think in a playful way. I am convinced that knowledge – of the world around us, and of each other – helps us to make life more fun.

After studying Communication Management, I wanted to delve into how science actually comes about. Therefor I took the master’s programme Science and Technology Studies at the University of Amsterdam.

For ten years I worked as a program developer at NEMO, the biggest Science Museum of the Netherlands, organizing exhibitions, workshops and cool demonstrations. During my work at NEMO, I spent three months in San Francisco in 2015, as a tinkerer in residence at the Exploratorium.

I still haven’t been able to decide what my favorite flavor of scoop ice cream is, but ‘stroopwafel‘ ice cream has very good odds. If you guess what my favorite color is, you win a cup of coffee!

And if you were wondering what leuk kennis maken means, it’s sort of a play of words. In Dutch it means both “nice meeting you”, as well as “acquiring knowledge in a fun way”. If you can come up with an appealing English equivalent, you win one hour of ideas – of any sorts – generated by me.
