As a freelance science communicator, creator, speaker and writer, my goal is to open up the marvelous world of science to the general public. In order to spark the audience’s interest, I use playful, appealing formats. My aim is to stimulate thought processes and to get people actively involved. For examples of my work, please also see my portfolio (in Dutch).

What I Can Do For You

  • Concept Development
Of events, presentations, exhibitions, books or any other formats that help you get in touch with your audience
  • Audience Interaction
Moderating conversations, (science) demonstrations, experiments, activities, etc. I ensure that the audience gets involved and will actively look for answers.
  • Workshops
Storytelling, playful and effective forms of science communication and the fascinating psychological principles that make our lives so fascinating and at the same time so irrational

I am very curious, and I always like to ask questions. I love to experiment and think in playful ways. I am convinced that more knowledge – of the world around us, and of each other – helps us to make life more fun.

After finishing my BA in Communication Management, I was interested in finding out more about the origins of science. It was then that I found out about the fairly unfamous yet superb MA Science and Technology Studies at the University of Amsterdam, which I completed in 2006.

I spent ten years working as a program developer at NEMO, the biggest Science Museum of the Netherlands, organizing exhibitions, workshops and various scientific demonstrations. During those ten years, I spent three months at the San Francisco Exploratorium in 2015, as a tinkerer in residence.

I still have not been able to decide my favorite ice cream flavor, but stroopwafel has very good odds. If you can guess my favorite color, you win a cup of coffee!
